For nearly 25 years Windjammer has been performing along the coasts and waterways of Florida,
developing it's own unique blend of tropical music. Their style brings together elements
from the U.S., such as jazz and rock, with Caribbean reggae, calypso, salsa, zouk and other
musics from around the world, creating a sound that reflects the multicultural mix of present-day
Florida. Take a musical journey through the styles of Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, Harry Belafonte,
Paul Simon, Johnny Clegg, UB40, and many others in a single set! Windjammer effectively combines
traditional folk idioms with modern technology into an experience that transcends time and
place.Whether providing ambience for the most intimate setting or dance music for large functions,
Windjammer's variety of tropical music has proven successful among people of all ages and
ethnicities.
The group features lead singer Lawrence App on steel drums and guitar along with the other
top-rate musicians he has collaborated with for many years, including fellow UNF music alumni
Peet Winders on guitar and Eric Mason on drums. Windjammer can be configured from one or
two pieces, up to a full six-piece band including horns (trumpet and sax), keyboards, drums,
bass, and latin percussion.
